Play has been called the language of childhood. I use the language of play to build connections and relationships with children. I work with parents of young children (age 3-7), through a play based coaching model to observe and respond to their children’s unique needs.
Through play children learn about their world, learn to express themselves, learn how to regulate their body, feelings, and sensations, develop new social skills, and understand how things work. When we observe children play, we begin to understand motivation, struggle, and thoughts that are not expressed through talking.
Play is healing for adults and children! Play can be an invitation to quiet the mind, redirect attention from negative thought patterns, open acceptance and reframe situations, foster relaxation, joy, laughter and overall well-being. Incorporating daily play is a lifestyle choice that can be nurtured and practiced.
